COVID Rates Continue To Rise In Ennis As Rates Stagnate Throughout Rest Of County

The rate of COVID-19 in Ennis is continuing to rise this week.

However, the prevalence of the virus is stagnating and decreasing in every other area of the county.

The 138 cases diagnosed in the Ennis area in the two weeks up to last Monday is the highest total in a fortnightly period in a number of months.

The electoral area’s rate of the disease per 100,000 people is now at 446.5, which is above the national average.

While cases have fallen slightly in Shannon, there were 125 people diagnosed with the virus there in the same 14 day period, leaving its rate at 411.2.

There’s also been a small drop in the incidence of COVID in North Clare, with 56 cases confirmed in the Ennistymon electoral area in the two weeks up to Monday.

Its rate stands at 341.3 per 100,000 people.

The disease remains pretty much stagnant in East Clare – 65 cases were confirmed there compared to 64 last week, leaving its figure at 323.3.

The virus’ prevalence continues to drop in the West of the county.

37 people were diagnosed with COVID in the Kilrush electoral area in the past 14 days, and its rate per 100,000 people is less than half the national average at 176.2.
