Clare TUI Chair Says Mask Wearing May Continue In Classroom After Mandate Is Lifted

The Chair of Clare’s TUI branch believes some staff and students may continue wearing masks at school even after a public health mandate for them has been lifted.

NPHET is to meet today and is understood to be considering dropping legal requirements for masks, which are due to stay in place until at least February 28th.

It could be instead be replaced with guidance to keep wearing one in classrooms, as well as in shops and on public transport.

Last night the Taoiseach indicated at a parliamentary party meeting the current rules could be eased.

Clare TUI Chair Kate Hehir, who teaches in St. Michael’s Community College, Kilmihil, says those with immunocompromised relatives are likely to continue wearing masks.
