Clare Govt TD Insists Decision On Business Supports Needs To Be Revisited In Light Of New Restrictions

A Clare Government TD is calling for business supports to be restored to their original level amid widespread concern within the hospitality sector.

It comes as representatives from the sector are due to meet with the Tánaiste and Minister for Tourism later today, ahead of stricter guidelines which come into force from tomorrow.

Speaking in Ennis yesterday, Taoiseach Micheál Martin said details on the reintroduction of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment for workers affected by the latest restrictions will be clarified following a cabinet meeting tomorrow.

However the Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme is due to remain at a reduced rate and Clare Fine Gael TD Joe Carey believes this decision should be revisited.
