A Clare government TD believes people travelling into Ireland who are fully vaccinated should be exempt from mandatory hotel quarantine.
It comes as the government has asked the Health Protection Surveillance Centre to examine the matter following a number of successful high court challenges.
New advice on the issue is expecting in the next 2 to 3 weeks, with the Department of Health believed to be anxious about how such a system may be implemented effectively.
