Bishop Of Killaloe Expresses Concern Over Cemetery And Funeral Gatherings

The Bishop of Killaloe has expressed concern over the numbers of people gathering at funerals and cemeteries across the diocese.

Bishop Fintan Monahan is appealing to mourners to find alternative ways of offering condolences, following discussions with priests and lay people in recent weeks who have expressed serious health and safety concerns.

Under level 5 restrictions, only 10 people are allowed inside a church for a funeral mass, but Bishop Monahan says larger numbers have been gathering outside for guard of honours or for graveside vigils.
