Parents of children in Ballyea National School are calling on the Bishop of Killaloe to reverse a decision to call off all communions and confirmations in the diocese.
Bishop Fintan Monahan yesterday asked all parishes to postpone the religious events following strong advice from the HSE that the ceremonies should not go ahead.
It follows a surge of new COVID-19 cases in Clare in recent days, in the Ennis and Kilrush electoral areas in particular.
