All Areas Of Clare Now At COVID-19 Rates Below National Average

All areas of Clare now have a prevalence of COVID-19 that’s below the national average.

New figures from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre show West Clare is the only region in the county to see an increase in its incidence rate this week.

The highest number of COVID-19 cases here in the two weeks up to this past Monday was in the Shannon region, where 45 cases were confirmed – its incidence rate of the virus per 100,000 people now stands at 148.

Ennis’ electoral area saw a further 40 cases diagnosed in the same two week period – its rate is now at 129.4 and has almost halved in the past month.

West Clare saw 21 cases in that 14 days – up from 17 last week – and its prevalence now stands at 100 per 100,000, up from 81 seven days ago, though still almost half the national average.

A further 20 cases in East Clare see its rate per 100,000 sit at 99.5 – though it was the lowest in the country this time last month, it is no longer.

North Clare though does have one of the lowest prevalences of COVID-19 nationwide – just 5 cases there in the past two weeks see its incidence rate at 30.5 per 100,000 people.
