Anger has been expressed over a decision to close the gates at one of Ennis’s busiest attractions.

The council closed all local authority car parks at beaches and parks last evening, amid concern over excessively high numbers attending some of the county’s most popular attractions last weekend, such as Lahinch and Kilkee beaches.

The move has resulted in the closure of the car parks at the Active Ennis John O’Sullivan Park, Lees Road and the car park adjacent to Tim Smyth Park in Ennis.

Local Fine Gael Councillor Mary Howard has been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that she believes that each of these attractions should have been individually assessed.
