Around 1,200 people from Group 4, who were due to receive their Covid-19 vaccination at the Radission Blue Hotel yesterday and today have had their appointments deferred.

It follows guidance from the National Immunisation Advisory Committee, that the vaccine be used for people in their 60s only, due to rare blood clotting concerns.

The HSE has now advised Hospital Grops and Healthcare Organisations to cancel all appointments for the rest of the week, except for certain people over the age of 60, as rollout plas are reconfigured.

The UL Hospitals Group says it has identified just over 400 people in the 60-69 age bracket, who will now be offered a vaccination on Thursday.

They’ll be contacted by text and recipients are encouraged to respond to the message and attend their appointment.

However, anyone who WAS due to attend an Astra Zeneca clinic this week, who has not been contacted directly in advance, is still advised not to attend.
