Clare’s Senator is hopeful that a government report on the future of policing in Ireland will lead to the recruitment of top talent for the Gardaí.
The four-year plan outlines a number of ambitious targets for the force, including having a staff of 19,000 within the next three years.

It will also see an independent oversight body established in place of the Policing Authority and Garda Síochána Inspectorate.
