A North Clare government Senator has called for "direct intervention" to bring more jobs to Ireland's rural towns.

Senator Martin Conway's comments came after new CSO figures showed that two-thirds of the drop in Clare's dole queues has come in the Ennis area.
North Clare in particular has lagged behind, though Ennistymon Senator Martin Conway feels some of the increases over the past two months have been because of the end of the tourism season.
