The reduction in ShannonDoc services in Clare is gaining national attention after it's been raised in the Dáil by a number of TD's from outside the MidWest.

The GP co-operative has blamed falling doctor numbers for it's decision to scale back out of hours services in Kilrush, Ennistymon and Killaloe, despite the HSE saying there are only two fewer GPs in the county over the past six years.

The issue has been raised in the Dáil by a number of Clare TDs, but now People Before Profit TD Gino Kelly, the Social Democrat's Róisín Shorthall and Sinn Féin Health Spokesperson Louise O'Reilly have all raised concerns.

Deputy O'Reilly has called on the Health Minister to meet the affected communities in Clare, as part of the HSE consultation process on the new GP contract.
