It’s been confirmed that consultants are being sought for the design of flood protection works for Shannon town and airport.
It follows a technical survey which was carried out, that determined the existing flood embankments were not of the necessary standard to protect the airport or the town from a 1-in-200 year tidal flood event.
Shannon Airport Authority and the Office of Public Works will co-fund the project, with a steering group including Clare County Council reps currently agreeing a brief for consultants to progress the project’s design.
