Construction works will begin on 22 new homes in Clare within the next month.
New data from the Department of Housing shows however that the number of commencement notices issued in this county is down over 75% on this time last year.
In January, just five commencement notices were issued to Clare County Council.
When a commencement notice is issued, it means the developer intends to carry out construction works in the next two to four weeks.
Based on the notices given to the local authority, building works will begin on 22 more houses here by next month.
Four of these will be one-off houses, the remaining 18 will be apartment units.
In January of last year, commencement notices were issued for 93 homes in Clare, meaning activity has reduced by 76% from the same juncture twelve months ago.
