Construction on a new multi-million euro school building in Shannon is set to begin next year.
It’s after Education Minister Norma Foley announced the state-of-the-art project is to go ahead at St Patrick’s Comprehensive School which will see 13 new classrooms built.
Two special education rooms will also come on stream, along with project-specific facilities for subjects such as construction, engineering and home economics.
The new works will replace current facilities which are more than 40 years old.
Speaking with Clare FM’s Josh Prenderville, St Patrick’s Comprehensive principal Mary Costello says the staff and student body alike is ‘ecstatic’ about the development.
