A West Clare Councillor is confident that rural roads which were excluded from the local authority’s gritting programme won’t be left unsalted during this latest cold snap.
The icy conditions experienced shortly before Christmas led to issues with the road between Kilkee, Carrigaholt and Kilbaha, and the road to the Cliffs of Moher, both of which were untreated.
Clare County Council has since committed to reviewing the roads included in their winter plan for the coming year, however a status yellow weather alert for low temperatures and ice comes into effect from 4pm today.
Kilkee Fianna Fáil Councillor, Cillian Murphy has been telling Clare FM’s Rebecca O’Sullivan that he is assured that the resources will be made available to grit the additional roads ahead of the official review.
