Concerns Over Workers Not Receiving Full Wage Subsidy Scheme

Clare’s Sinn Fein TD has raised concern that some workers on the Temporary Wage Subsidy Scheme are not receiving the correct payments from their employers.

The Revenue-operated scheme, which is still being used to support the wages of nearly 6,000 workers here, sees workers receive supports directly from their employer, but Violet Anne Wynne has written to the Finance Minister with concerns that some workers aren’t being paid what’s owed to them.

Minister Paschal Donohoe has told her that in the event of underpayments, the employer must refund the money to Revenue, and they could be subject to a €4000 fine.
