Clare’s Fianna Fáil TD insists that value for money can’t be the driving force behind the National Broadband Plan.

It’s emerged that it could cost more than 3 billion euro, which is six times the original estimate for the state programme.

Rollout of the plan, which has been delayed since 2012, was put in jeopardy earlier this month when Communications Minister Denis Naughten resigned after controversial meetings with one of the bidders for the tender.
