Local representatives are worried that the maintenance of these structures are placing an unfair burden on their owners.

The issue was raised at a recent meeting of Ennis Town Council by Fianna Fail Cllr Brain Meaney who expressed worry that the conditions of some of these dwellings were presenting a danger to the inhabitants.

Cllr Meaney says rules should apply to the exteriors of these premises but not interiors.
