Concerns Raised Over New Climate Action Bill

A Clare member of An Taisce’s Climate Committee says the government’s new Climate Action Bill leaves much to be desired.

The bill does not include a section banning the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030, nor the importation of second-hand petrol and diesel cars despite a commitment in the Programme for Government.

The bill has been welcomed by some however as it does incorporate a legally binding commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
