Concerns Raised Over Aging GP Population

A North Clare doctor is warning that over a quarter of GPs are now over the age of 60.

It comes as figures obtained by Tipperary Independent TD Mattie McGrath show that 157 GPs currently practicing in the health service will retire by 2021.

Deputy McGrath has also said he’s deeply concerned as this presents what he regards as a “full-scale emergency” in rural GP practice.
