Concerns Expressed Over Crime Reporting

The body in charge of Garda standards says it's concerned at the level of crimes which aren't being recorded by Gardaí.

The Garda Inspectorate says there have been repeated concerns that not every phone call, reporting a crime, is logged by Gardaí.

Deputy Inspector Mark Toland says regular audits by the CSO have found some stations have no system to record alleged crimes.

And he says that means it's very difficult to say for certain how many Gardaí are needed on our streets.
