Concern Over Shannon Complaint

Local representatives have expressed fears that the development of the now independent Shannon Airport could be hampered by a complaint to Europe over the government’s handling of it’s seperation from the DAA.

Fianna Fail Senator Marc Mc Sherry has lodged a complaint with the European commission over what he feels is the government’s breach of competiton laws in relation to Clare’s international airport.

The Sligo-North Leitrim senator is understood to be concerned about how the government undertook the process of seperating Shannon from state control and its possible effect on Knock airport.
