Concern over low level of understanding of pensions among Clare youth

Only 20 per cent of young adults in Clare know how much the state offers in pension payments.

A national survey, commissioned by the Irish Association of Pension Funds examined retirement planning in Ireland and whether people are being realistic when it comes to expectations about their retirement age.

It found that people aviod thinking about retirement for much of their working lives with 20,000 18 to 34 year olds unaware of the impact of pensions on their quality of life in their golden years.
