It’s claimed that nearly a third of all cigarettes smoked in Clare are counterfeit tobacco.

A new study from the National Federation of Retail Newsagents found that Ennis ranked 4th of of 22 Irish cities and towns in the illegal sale of cigarettes that had no Irish duty paid stamp – Drogheda and Tallaght were the highest.
Clare’s County Town was over four points above the national average of 27.9% and has risen by six points in the past six months.
