A Whitegate Councillor is seeking assurances that farming in Clare won't be restricted by a proposed River Shannon project.
There are concerns being expressed over an Irish Water-proposal, which would see 330 million litres of water a day taken from the river
Irish Water say the proposed project is designed to bolster water supply in East and the Midlands.
It would see water taken from the River Shannon as part of efforts to improve supply nationwide.
However there are some concerns over how the project might affect Clare if it gets the go ahead.
Whitegate Fine Gael Councillor Pat Burke is highlighting the potential impact on both farming, and the rivers itself.
However Irish Water insist all possible measure will be put in place to ensure landowners are not impacted.
Project Manager Gerry Geoghegan says they will look to the example of their sister company to when dealing with local communities.
