Gardaí are urging people to be on the look out, after registration plates were stolen from a car at a popular sports amenity.

Sometime between 9 o’clock and 10.15 on Friday morning, the front and back registration plates were taken from a silver Kia Ceed hatchback parked at the Lee’s Road Sports Complex.

Clare’s Crime Prevention Officer says there’s a concern these plates could be used in the commission of another crime.

Sergeant Catriona Holohan is appealing to any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

“We are appealing to anyone that may have been in the Lees Road Sports Complex last Friday morning and may have seen someone near a silver Kia Ceed or has dash-cam footage in their vehicle, to please contact Ennis Garda Station on 065 6848100.

“I am also appealing to the public to be mindful that these registration plates may be used by criminals to commit a crime.

“If anyone observes a Kia Ceed acting suspiciously or is not familiar to your area, please contact your local Garda Station or 999 if you believe it is an emergency.”
