Concern That Ireland’s Teacher Shortage Will Reach Crisis Point

Fresh concern is being expressed in Clare that a failure to improve working conditions will lead to a shortage in qualified teachers.

It follows a survey carried out by the ASTI which reveals that job satisfaction among its members has dropped by over a quarter in the past nine years.

It found that just 51 percent of secondary teachers are either satisfied or very satisfied with their jobs, compared with 77 percent in 2009.
