It’s claimed motorists illegally parking on footpaths in the centre of Newmarket-on-Fergus is forcing elderly and disabled people to walk out on the road.
Local Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat McMahon says it’s been a persistent problem around the square in the town centre.

Clare County Council says the issue will be monitored on a short-term basis, with a view to looking at the extent of the problem and appropriate measures will then be considered.
But Cllr McMahon says it’s a treacherous situation and it needs to be addressed quickly:
