Concern Expressed Over Site For Motorway Service Area

The new President of Ennis Chamber has expressed concern that the planned site for a Motorway Service Area will suck trade from Ennis, and other surrounding villages.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland has selected a site adjacent to the motorway, and close to Newmarket on Fergus, as its preferred site for a new service area.

The facility could be up and running by 2020, but Ennis Chamber is critical of the location, and fears the impact on existing traders.

President of the Chamber William Cahir says the facility must be appropriate for its purpose.
