Clare farmers have expressed concern over Burger King’s decision to stop purchasing burgers from a company implicated in the horse meat scandal.
Silvercrest Foods is part of the APB Group which would be one of the main companies that cattle farmers here in the county and across Munster would deal with.
Burger King last night announced that it’s to source the products from another supplier as a precaution- however it added that it was still committed to sourcing Irish beef.
Eddie Punch – Cratloe Farmer and General Secretary of Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers Association say it emphasizes the need for the industry to learn lessons from the affair which could prove costly for his members
