Ennis Man To Run Dublin Marathon In Honour Of Late Father

An Ennis man is in full training to run the Dublin City Marathon to honour his late father, who died of cancer earlier this year.

Aaron Burke, who is the GMIT Student Union President, lost his dad Tommy Guilfoyle in May.

Tommy had been planning on running the marathon in aid of cancer support charity Sláinte an Chláir even before his diagnosis but sadly, it wasn’t meant to be.

Aaron has now taken his father’s race number and will be taking his place on the road and says it’s important to him to complete his dad’s final wish:

An 80s-themed event in aid of Aaron’s fundraising will take place in Tom Steele’s Bar in Ennis on November 1st.
