A community effort, which resulted in a number of cows being saved from a cliff edge in West Clare is being hailed.
25 cows were stranded in the Bluepool area of Doonbeg last week, with a number of the herd lost to the sea, after they fell over the cliff edge.
The incident was reported to relevant officials within the Department of Agriculture, while an appeal issued to locals by the farmer who owned the cattle to help in efforts to save the herd.
Clare’s County Dog Warden, Frankie Coote says it was historical knowledge from older members of the community, combined with youthful manpower, that saved a large number of the stranded cows.
