Community groups and local representatives have gathered over the long weekend to discuss the response to what’s been described as a “rapidly evolving” situation regarding the provision of accommodation and supports for refugees fleeing Ukraine.
Nearly one thousand Ukranian refugees are now being accommodated at centres in North and West Clare, with more expected to arrive in the coming weeks.
A decision has been taken that Lisdoonvarna Fáilte will lead the community response in the North of the county and act as a link between accommodation providers, the community and state agencies.
Lisdoonvarna-based Fine Gael Councillor Joe Garrihy believes the people of Clare are doing everything they can to help.
