An Ennis community group insists that development on Abbey Street is vital to future-proof the county town.
It comes as the Ennis 2040 DAC has unveiled designs for a €15m office and anchor retail unit along with a river walkway on the existing car-park site.
One local organisation claims that while the planned boardwalk should be widened to retain a greater civic space, Ennis would ultimately be losing a car park to gain a brand-new street in a prime location.
