40 year old Colm Deely is charged over the death of Deirdre McCarthy over 2 years ago.

In March 2011 the body of guest house worker Deirdre McCarthy was discovered washed up on the shore at Fanore beach –  following an extensive three day search by Gardaí, civil defence and locals.

Ballyvaughan man Colm Deely of School Road in the North Clare village was subsequently charged with the murder of the 43 year old at a place unknown in the county on or about the 28th of that month.

The trial against the 40 year old father of two was originally listed to proceed before Central Criminal Court which was sitting in Galway in January- but was subsequently adjourned.

It’s now listed to be heard before Justice Paul Carney at the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin today.
