A specially trained customs sniffer dog has again helped customs officers thwart efforts to import cannabis into the country.
Cocker spaniel Ollie discovered herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of 50,000 euro concealed in a consignment of freight which arrived into Shannon from Spain.
Revenue says investigations are continuing in the discovery which was made on Tuesday.
Earlier this month, Shannon-based customs officers as well as their faithful friend Ollie were praised for discovering 300 thousand euro worth of cannabis in a consignment of vacuum packed clothing.
