The Big Beach Clean, which is organised by Clean Coasts together with the International Ocean Conservancy, will see people visiting six of Clare's beaches to rid them of rubbish.

Last year, more than 18 million pounds of trash was collected by nearly 800,000 volunteers as part of the worldwide initiative.

Community groups from across Clare are coming together today to play their part at Lahinch and Ballynote in Cappa, while on Sunday next week, they'll visit Spanish Point, Seafield and Quilty.
