The Taoiseach and Tánaiste will try to reach a compromise deal to end the row over water charges today.
They hope the proposals can be rubber-stamped by Cabinet tomorrow to end the stand-off – which has caused deep divisions between the coalition partners.
Labour are looking to have the final cost and the standing charge reduced as well as a faster programme of water meter installations – while Fine Gael sources have accused Eamon Gilmore's party of stalling.
Meanwhile, Clare County Council is no longer dealing with the majority of public queries regarding the county's water supply.
As of today, Irish Water has assumed this function as part of its takeover of the national network.
Clare residents are asked to divert queries to Irish Water by calling 1890 278 278, while calls to the Council will not be transferred to the national body.
Until further notice, the local authority will continue to operate an out of ours emergency service, and will handle queries regarding Group schemes, new connections and non-domestic billing.
