Gardaí have recorded a coach driver in Ennistymon travelling almost 40km/h above the speed limit.
A Clare Road Policing Unit speed check operation conducted near a school in Ennistymon on Thursday morning identifed a number of vehicles as being well in excess of the 50km/h speed limit.

This included a 52-seater coach travelling at 89km/h or 39km/h above the speed limit.
Other drivers found to be in breach of the speed limit were recorded at speeds of 79km/h, 78km/h, 76km/h, 74km/h and 70km/h.
