Close To Half A Million Euro Spent By Council On Illegal Encampment Litigation Since 2019

A former Mayor of Clare claims the entire country will be keeping a watchful eye on an illegal encampment dispute involving Clare County Council.

New figures released by the local authority show that a sum of €484,398 has been spent on litigation fees to address illegal encampments in this county since just 2019.

One particular case, which invloves a number of households occupying public land on the Kilrush road in Ennis for more than three years, is currently awaiting a judicial decision.
