Clonlara residents are said to be cautiously optimistic following an announcement that the OPW is to provide capital funding for flood protection works.
The office of public works has approved proposed CFRAMS measures which would see a kilometre long embankment, a smaller land bank and a pumping station being constructed to prevent against flooding in the Springfield area.
Clare County Council will have to provide a detailed assessment of the project before it can go ahead and the works won’t be completed on time for the coming winter.
