Locals in Clonlara have expressed relief that flood relief works may soon begin in the area.
An Bord Pleanála has granted planning permission for the construction of a flood defence embankment, close to the River Shannon.
Clare County Council has been granted permission to go ahead with the project in a bid to protect homes within the Springfield community.
