Clonbony Bridge is re-opening to traffic this afternoon, two days ahead of schedule.
The West Clare Bridge has been closed for almost eight weeks after the structure became damaged during flooding in early September.
Transport Infrastructure Ireland says repair works have now been completed.
Clonbony Bridge, which is on the N67 between Miltown Malbay and Lahinch, has been closed for almost two months after flooding led to structural damage at the base of one of its arches.
Several inspections carried out in the weeks that followed, as flood waters receded, revealed that the road wasn't safe for road users and contractors were appointed to carry out repairs.
The works were expected to take four weeks to complete but that was extended by one more week to allow final inspections to be carried out – the road is re-opening around 2 o'clock this afternoon, two days ahead of schedule.
Transport I Infrastructure reland says Clonbony Bridge is now fit for purpose and spokesman Sean O'Neill says considerable damage was caused by flooding.
Businesses expressed fury over delays in opening the Bridge, saying Miltown Malbay became a ghost town.
Additional signage was put in place to divert traffic into the town following a 75 per cent drop in custom in the West Clare town in the weeks that followed the closure.
Eddie Keane of The Bakehouse Restaurant hopes business will pick-up now that the bridge is re-opening.
