The Tanaiste says the incident occured on an unknown date this year, and is in breach of Ireland’s agreement with the US which states that all aircraft passing through Shannon must be unarmed.

The US Embassy says it was an isolated incident, caused by an administrative error, and that steps have been taken to ensure it is not repeated.
