Cliffs staff urged to re-engage in pay talks

Both sides in the ongoing dispute over the pay and conditions of SIPTU staff at the Cliffs of Moher are being urged to re-engage in talks as soon as possible. On Wednesday the Labour Court issued recommendations on the row which resulted in a strike at the World Famous North Clare attraction last year. Siptu sought parity of pay for its members at the Cliffs with their counterparts in the Local Authority but it was estimated this could cost the company almost half a million euro- which it says would render the business unsustainable. Following Labour Court proceedings SIPTU has recognised management’s position and the industrial relations body is urging both sides to enter talks with a view to agreeing an interim improvement in pay and conditions. Clare Senator Martin Conway hopes a speedy resolution can be found
