Clare’s social housing waiting list has fallen by 8 percent in the past year.
There are now 2,739 households waiting for accommodation in this county.
Clare County Council’s Monthly Management Report for this month details the needs of the over 2,700 households awaiting accommodation from the local authority.
More than three quarters of these are waiting for 1 or 2 bed houses or apartments, with around 16 percent looking for 3 bed dwellings.
Just 5 percent of those on the list in this county are awaiting 4 bed accommodation, with just one household in Clare stating it requires a 5 bedroom home.
More than 2 in 5 households on the list have Ennis as the first preference location, with Shannon, Clarecastle and the joint cluster of Inagh, Ennistymon and Lahinch the next most popular areas.
Just 8 households have Kilfenora down as first preference, with 12 looking to settle in Kilmaley and 16 in Kilmihil.
Nearly half of those on the list are currently availing of the Housing Assistance Payment.
The Council says in the report it’s ‘significantly exceeded’ its housing delivery plan targets for 2022, and is confident it can do so once again in 2023.
