Sinn Féin's general election candidate in Clare has described the cut to lone parents allowance as "the cynical targeting of the most vulnerable groups in society."

The cut, which will see the One Parent Family Payment stopped when a child reaches the age of seven, is being implemented today, after a Sinn Fein bill aimed at reversing it was beaten in the Dáil last night.
Noeleen Moran believes it will lead to hardship for some of the 4,600 single parent families in Clare.
