Martin Conway believes strike action creates a climate of fear that there will be an escalation of crime.

Meanwhile, the Garda Commissioner has been accused of a judgement error by going to America, while the force threatens industrial action.

Garda Commissioner, Noirin O'Sullivan is on a police chiefs' course in San Diego, just as Gardaí at home have announced they're to withdraw their labour next month and now she's been accused over a judgement error.

Earlier the head of the AGSI admitted they'd had no contact with Garda HQ over contingency plans to keep order during the strikes.

They're meeting with officials from the Justice Department today but Fianna Fáil's Justice spokesman Michael McGrath says the situation has been badly handled.

Martin Conway says all parties must come together in order to be able to do that.
