Clare’s Senator is expressing hope that drastic laws which will allow for the detention of people with COVID 19, who refuse to self-isolate, will never be needed.
The Dáil passed emergency legislation last night, in response to the crisis, which will be ratified by the Seanad today.

The measures, are in to be in place on a temporary basis, to guide Ireland through an uncertain few weeks and months ahead.
Ennistymon Fine Gael Senator Martin Conway says these are extraordinary times and measures like this are necessary – but he hopes the most severe of the laws will never be enforced.
